📜Fog Report No 1. Until the Fog Lifts
Weather on the Quarterdeck
The fog is heaviest here, at Sector New York.
Smiles at the top, but heavy air below decks. Leadership calls it “business as usual,”
yet whispers — from facilities to the watchstanders, to the contractors, from the federal employees — say otherwise.
The Theater This Week at Sector New York
The Captains still basks in the glow of Friendsgiving past, when cameras and the President (Biden) came to visit. But the stagehands shuffle in the shadows.
Another shipmater — leaning starboard, by all accounts — wrongfully diciplined. “The Mission,” of course. Curious how those needs always land on the same few.
Some whispers caught this week:
“Those MAGA’s are going to get what they have coming to them.”
“ Please tell me this screws the union”“Guess we know who they voted for… explains everything, doesn’t it?”
“Oh, he’s one of those MAGA types — say no more.”
“Maybe you should spend less time watching Fox News”
Ah. Theater at its most unsubtle.
The Silent Bridge
And yet, the Bridge remains quiet.
The Acting Commandant, high above the deckplates,
says nothing. Does he see the fog rolling in? Or is the view from Headquarters too clear to notice what’s beneath?
Outlook for Next Week
The fog lingers at Sector New York — thick and unrelenting.
But the fog drifts. Whispers come from every corner of the service. Perhaps even from the Bridge itself.
The quarterdeck listens. The quarterdeck remembers.
